Q&A - Please describe your training and years of experience as a counsellor/therapist.

In my third year of practice, I have worked and trained predominantly in the narrative, hypnotherapeutic, and trauma-informed modalities that help me show up with clients navigating relationships, complex trauma, post traumatic stress, identity, and self-discovery. I have a Masters in Counselling Psychology and have continued to add to my areas of understanding through training with Gabor Mate, courses on trauma and the brain, clinical hypnotherapy, and narrative non-pathologizing approaches.

  • Ongoing participation in Indigenous-led Land Back-based movements

Q: Do you have experience with clients impacted by climate grief or state-related violence? If so, please elaborate.

  • Yes, I have worked directly with members of the Wet'suwet'en in their ongoing court battle having been violently arrested by RCMP. I am part of the wellness team that wraps around this group each time they have gone to court since September 2023.

Q: Do you have any other specific training that might be relevant to clients we are seeking to help with this community mental health program?

  • My non-pathologizing approach means I meet people where they are, with dignity. As a cis, white, able-bodied, settler, queer practitioner, there are limits to my knowledge and understandings of intersectional experiences. If I can support the humanizing of my client, however, I am here for it and in their corner. It is my honour to develop trusting relationships, and trust is earned.

Q: Please describe your style, focus, and what you offer clients.

  • I am to combine wisdom from my client's lived experience with deep listening and focus on relational safety. My conversational approach is aimed at humanizing, co-regulation, non-pathologizing (unlearning how we have learned to see ourselves as a problem), and retelling of stories with a preferred way of understanding. I help clients understand their window of tolerance and how to relate safely with themselves and the world while they are healing.

  • 2SLGBTQ+
